Out Of A Job Yet...

"Out of a job yet, keep buying foreign"... I hate those decals. I've seen loads of NA vehicles with those on, yet the Chevy Equinox engines are made in China and now Chrysler in Windsor is closing up because they can't get parts from Japan.

Here's last year's UAW list of Union made cars...

http://www.pricewheels.com/blog/2009...rs-and-trucks/

And even that's not the full truth, since UAW doesn't want to recognize NA made cars that don't use the UAW as "Union made". Honda has its own union. The Odyssey is made in Alliston.

Honda most definitely does not have its own union, or any union for that matter, and the Odyssey hasn't been made in Alliston since 2003.

Agreed... Its funny how the imported manufacturers are actually giving us more employment than the NA companies.

I had no idea Odyssey was made in Alliston before... That must be the same plant they make the Civic at now.

There is some truth to the "keep buying foreign."

However the problem is not only the consumer, its companies that care of nothing else except maximizing their profits.

Many things that have been out sourced to China never needed to be in the first place, the manufacturing could have remained here. The problem is the companies want more profits, more profits, more profits and that is all they care about.

It's true that the costs of building things here does cost more. But you know what, a N.A. company building their shit here, paying employees in Canada, at least the money and effort stays in our economy instead being syphoned out to China.

We help build China strong at the expensive of our lives.

What bugs me the most is that these companies report record profits year after year, in the billions of dollars and yet instead of using those profits to build up their company and advance it further they pay out that money in dividends. That 300 million they just paid out in dividends could have employed 5,000 people.

On the other side of the spectrum consumers only care to get the best price and nothing more. Buy it new if it breaks, its cheaper. And its the truth.

Less profits = less capital for re-investment = less competitive company = company that goes out of business.

Yup, stupid corporations.

Yup, stupid corporations.
huge profits = everything too expensive = no one can afford it = company goes out of business
