Modded E90 Lease Takeover - Needs your advice

Gents,

Was looking at getting an '11 Jetta for $405/mth tax in as a daily driver. I still have my e36 and X5 4.4i (wife's) for when I want to drive something more fun or upscale.

But I cam across this: http://www.leasebusters.com/en/details.asp?id=113282

'11 323i for $410/mnth.

Only catch is he wants $4k cash and I get his $500 security deposit (so I'm paying him $3500 at the end of the day).

His mods include:
Full OEM M-Tech Package (Front/Rear Bumpers, Skirts, CF Mirrors, CF Trunk Lip) as well as K-Sport Coilovers and M6 reps. He would also provide all stock parts.

My thought is if I can get it for $2k - then when I return the lease, I can sell off the full body kit as well as wheels and suspension and probably break even.

Thoughts?

I would take the 323 and do what you are considering at the end of the term, despite I am not a fan of base model BMW's.

That 323i doesn't look to bad, a new set wheels and sport seats and your set. I wonder how much he paid to make it look like that.

It s a good lookcing car, but there is no way in hell I would pay someone to take over their lease. It's not like they're doing YOU a favour ... they want out, so they should either do a straight transfer, or pay you to take it off their hands.

it sounds like the guy is just trying to recoup some of the money he spent on the mods. I think offering him half is fair.

Does his asking price reflect the amount he put down on the car to get those monthly payments??

Edit- it does state he put $5000 down plus security so his asking of $4000 isn't bad, he's giving $1000 off his down payed price and your getting all the modded parts, and a good monthly payment. Actually a good deal.

Why would you pay that much for a lease? I pay the same to keep my car in the end :S Seems like quite a bit just to take a lease over.

I rented the 323i 2010. I liked most of the car's features, but i am not very happy with the amount power the 2.5 L engine delivers. From the picture looks like you have a m6 wheels. The car will be heavy and bugged down. If you looking for a fast ride the 323i is not the car you are looking for.

5 years. We got deals all around for knowing the owner of the dealership ect. Mazda or Benz or even Ferrari. Car make doesn't matter. I'm just simply asking why pay 4grand and then the 405$ monthly payment. It's a lease, he'll end up with a 15grand or 20grand buy-out in the end.
