1995 540i 6pd
I have the opportunity to pickup a '95 540i 6spd.
Oxford Green
153,000KM
full leather in great condition
Body in fair condition (no rust, couple of dings/clearcoat peel)
17" M5 throwing star wheels
looks like it may have aftermarket suspension
The car is a theft recovery.
It has a smashed out rear door window, and a torn out stereo (cut harness)
all hvac stuff works, no CEL's.
Engine runs smooth.
Clutch is about to explode, can feel flywheel shudder.
Needs a bit of attention, but like I said all cosmetic.
I have the opportunity to pick this up for $1500.
I'm mechanically inclined, the clutch job does not intimidate me...however would be curious to know as to whether the $1500 is a good price for a car of this nature that requires this amount of work
I believe it is NOT the "rare" 540iM (of only 189 made) but has the attributes of it (lower suspension, and m5 wheels).
my question is:
how can I tell if this engine has the notorious Nikasil block, or not?
