A bit of an update.
Thursday September 8th i decided to give the Calabogie Gentlemans GT Race a shot. They have been doing these races all season and this one happened to be the last one of this season so i wanted to give it a go to see how i would class up. We get a single qualifying lap to place, followed by a 50 min race with point-by passing. I managed to qualify 2nd, however 2 laps into the race, the car crapped out on me. Coming down the front straight, i first noticed that i lost powersteering. Then the engine started to overheat. So i pulled out, and it turns out the water pump let go so the belt came off. Needless to say this was the unfortunate end to my race.
I knew that i had low compression in cylinder 3, but after overheating the engine, i wanted to check it out again. So last week, before Saturday's autoX, i re-checked compression. turns out, i now have low compression in cylinder 3,4, AND 5.. Ok well might as well run it saturday and hope for the best! The car ran great all day saturday without problems, and still seemed to pull hard enough.
Sunday i decided to do a leakdown test to see exactly what is wrong with the engine. I knew the headgasket was leaking, but i really wanted to see what shape the bottom end was in. Turns out the engine was in REALLY bad shape as it was leaking between 20% and 65% through all the cylinders. And alot of that was coming out of the dipstick which indicates a bottom end issue.
So long story short, engine is back out of the car. after seeing these results, i decided to just pull the engine and get going on a rebuild.
Last shot of it in the car:

The last event i was hoping to do was Mosport Thanksgiving weekend, however with the engine in this bad of shape, i would rather not spend the money hauling the car up there for the chance of it blowing on me. So i will be getting a head start on the winter work.
