automatic window stopping 3 times

Does anyone know the cause of the automatic window stopping on the way up 3 times? It seems to have something to do with the position of the motor. I know it is sensing the speed of the window going up, but is it the motor dying, the gear wearing out? The speed sensor ???

Ok, I think I've figured this out. On the regulator the adjustment arm gets dry and needs to be lubricated.

The switches also cause this when they are getting old. I rebuilt 2 of my switches last year, they work great again.
