Oil Dipstick tube removal...

So I'm embarking on an Oil separator change and I'm staring at the dipstick tube. It is looking slightly corroded just above the insertion point. So before I go trying to pull this out....what are the chances that this is going to break off? the tube looks pretty thick but just thought I'd ask. the car is a 2001 E330i.

Every single DIY says unbolt the bracket that holds it to the intake manifold and pull straight up. Well, when I replaced my oil separator, teh kit came with a dipstick O-Ring so after I replaced all teh hoses and teh OS, I thought I'd replace that O-Ring too. I was pulling with both my arms and almost broke the damn stick, no go. I only bent it a little, no worries just bent it back to shape. I said, fvck it, it aint leaking so why replace the O-Ring. So I left it.

Dont be afraid to break it, just pull.

so did you have any trouble getting the hose off the dipstick tube???? Hey If I can get that hose off without any problems without removing the dipstick tube then I'm all for that..

I just cut the hose in half. Then cut it along the tube as if was on very tight. The new hose just goes over. Do not lubricate the dipstick when putting on a new hose, just slide it in as far as it goes or until it reaches the stop.

Yeah if I did this job again, I would leave the dipstick tube stuck in the oil pan, and cut the rubber hose that goes into it from the CCV off as suggested above. The tube is a pain in the ass to get back into the oil pan.
