Warranty work, Cylinder valves and or head

If I'm out of warranty, how do you think BMW Toronto going to treat this or charge me?

My experience so far is they start off saying I need to pay the whole freight, then I show them the TSB and politely explain it's a known issue. They then come back after going to the manager and I end up paying for some of the labour.

In this case, other than the noise "tick" the car makes, I could care less about getting this done. No trouble code, just annoying. It could tick forever, I likely won't care. It doesn't tick after the car is nice and hot. My driving is only short trips though, so I hear it often.

I'm just curious, if I could get it done for free, I will.....but I'm not paying for this one. I paid for vanos solenoid and steering column lock already.

I am good to ignore this one if they want money? Any opinions?

How far from warranty were you? Did you notice and reported the ticking sound to BMW within your warranty period?

According to the TSB you posted. you shouldnt be paying any cost...under warrnty Information:

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty, or the Certified Pre-Owned program.

maybe try another dealership...or get some quotes from sponsors here, showing them the TSB and then compare the price....

personally, i will get it fix for I will go bonker hearing the ticking sound....thats a mental torture..

Usually......I use this word lightly, bmw will honor out of warranty work if it is a few k's or month out. They either cover the whole or partial cost of the repair. My friend got 1500 work done but only cost him out of pocket 250.00. So it depends on the dealership, service manager. (Grin) can't hurt to go in and get them to look at it. try Maranello.

Just to add...

I just got my car back and had over $1000 done on it something with the vanos. I reported the problem twice while under warranty and they attempted to fix it but nothing worked. Same problem happened again this past week and they "found more error codes" and changed some parts. My car is now 15000 km out of warranty and they fixed it for FREE. So like damameke said, did you report it while under warranty, cause there is a good chance they can do it for free...just gotta press them a bit.
