e30vert fan comes on with hardtop on

I can't remember where I read this, but when the hard top is on the car the rear defogger fan should not come on when the button is depressed. yet mine still does and my rear window lines are not working.

any ideas what is happening? thx.

You're right. The fan should only come on with the soft top. When the hartop is connected, the fan shouldn't come on, but the metal lines in the window should be on. Sorry I missed your call last night... my battery was on it's last legs. Tried to answer, but it release the call.

yeah, I wondered what happened! lol.

So what do you think could be causing this? Is there some sort of circuit interrupt which disables the fan to allow the metal lines to work?

on another note: here is a pic u asked of the rear seat reupholstered. top portion is the original leather. not an easy job doing it let me tell ya!
