Anyone get hit with the flu bug?

Never been sick since about seven years ago and then it was mild. With this one I've been out since last Friday and I always get my flu shot so I know whatever strain it is it's definitely a tough one to fight off. Day 6 and counting. Nyqill and contact C are my new best friends.

I had this bug over new years. For me it was only 4 or 5 days of misery and a couple more before I was back to my regular appetite. Everyone in my house got the flu shot and still all 4 of us caught the bug. However, we only had fevers and sinus congestion (no puking) so rather mild, all in all. I'd say the flu shot helped.

Im made of iron.

The problem is doctors are too quick to prescribe antibiotics to people that aren't even that sick.. 2 months ago my mother was on antibioties because she was apparently sick.. but she didn't look that bad to me.

The only time you should be on antibiotics is if youre so sick that you cant even stand up. Then and only then should you be on antibiotics. I dont understand why the doctors are giving them out the way they are. All you have to do is ask your doctor and he prescribes them. Its a stupid system we have and too many people go to the doctor and ask for them because they dont know better (my mother included).

You need to let your system battle these bugs and develop natural antibodies.

The only time in my life Ive been on antibiotics was when I was 12 and had terrible bronchitis.

Antibiotics aren't even relevant here, the flu is a virus, as is a "regular cold".

My dad got pretty sick last week and still has a lingering cough now. I on the other hand haven't been sick for about 6 years now. I got the worst flu I've ever experienced in my first year of university, which was the last time I got the flu shot. I haven't gotten one since and have been completely healthy each winter. I don't wanna be one of the conspiracy type people, but just stating the facts. I haven't puked since then either. lol

I haven't had the flu shot in the past 6 years. If I feel sick I take 2 tylenol cold and flu's and I'm good to go.

haven't been sick since last year.

I also don't believe in medication for a simple cold.

Hell even a 102 fever that makes your balls drop while you still feel freezing cold didn't make me take meds.

Yep. The last time I got it was like a year ago before my preschool in 1989. I still have the paper work for it. I would not stand in line with someone snizzing right behind me. There is a good chance you will get it right there.
