Will do, I'm going to be getting a few more parts for the plastic bumper swap, then I'm going hunting for a garage close to me (Fisher/Carling/Merivale area) to do some work. I'll hit you up then!

You think that is too wide? Should I just go with 16x8 all around? The car has all it's suspension bushing and joints refreshed with H&R Sports/Bilstein Sports.

It's basically a crazy DD/place for me to put my money as I have no girlfriend. Or other friends for that matter...

I'm saving up a little to do a Chevy 350 swap. Measurements are all done, motor mounts are fabbed, as is the drive shaft and the brake booster adaptor thingy is in the works. I'm going to get it so close to finished that I will nose the car into the garage, tear into it for 2 days straight and get it rolling back out as fast as possible.

If it stays stock than fitting those wheels is a ridiculous amount of work (pulled, stretched and rolled fenders) and you'll still wind up with some ugly stretched and poked tire garbage.

If its getting a 350, than yeah, you'll definitely want more rubber, so the fender pulls (or flares) will be justified. Before you go and waste your money on super wide rims though, first consider what tires you are going to run. For example, my Rcomps (BFG R1s) are a 245 tire, but when you measure the distance between bead to bead, they only require an 8" rim; much easier to find and fit than the 9" rims I thought I needed. Different tires require different rims widths. Smaller width rims also weigh less.

P.S. V8 swaps are awesome!!

Ah, you bought David's M50 car?!! Nice one! I didn't think his seats were in bad condition that they needed recovering...

I agree with dissembler, 10 inches of wheel with 8.8 inches of rubber just doesn't make any sense and could even be unsafe. You might also want to consider that with under 250 hp you should be fine with 215 or 225 section width if you can fit it. It's the torque of the V8 you'll need to be aware of when driving. I really don't understand american small block swaps into compact european cars... if you don't like winding out the I4 or I6 and would rather toque around a V8, why not pick up a muscle car? If tuned right it will handle similar to a BMW with altered suspension and weight geometry. But each to their own I guess. Oh, sadly 20 year old BMW's don't really help with the ladies at all. lol

Sorry I didn't see your post sooner.

It really depends, replacing the whole strut will be a big job. Just make sure to cut out all the rust (and then some) to make sure its good and gone, then weld in some good metal of the appropriate thickness. I'm not really an expert on any of this though. If there's enough rust you may have to replace the tower, and that I don't really know how I would advise you do, I think I could do it, but Im not sure about explaining how I would lol.

I may just go with 8 inch rims then, seeing as this swap will not be happening til the end of the summer at the soonest.

This is the look I am going for (sorry for the giant mofoing img):
