If you are getting 2-3 megabits per second, that's pretty slow.

Compared to RevTT, FunFile has better 'Pre' times. Basically I can get TV Shows ~15mins after they air.

You may think this doesn't matter, but basically I get to download Top Gear episodes very soon after they air and at full speed.....whereas on a public torrent tracker, your speed will suck until more people seed, which can take hours for the latest top gear.

Because 2-3 megbits is blazing fast.

MB/s = MegaBytes per sec.

Kurt has the Bell Fibe25 or watever, it's pretty fast.

Newsgroups:

http://www.newsgroupreviews.com/usen...er-review.html

They have specials to the servers here posted regularly.. You want something with unlimted connections, and unlimited bandwidth.. Expect to pay at least 10$ for this service.

After this you need a program that can connect to the servers and download news bins.

Alt.Binz is the one I use. I think its easy to use and works great for me.

Then you need a website to find NewsBins. There are a bunch of free ones. nzbsrus is a great one..

Then its straight forward.

You open up alt.bins, enter your log information (the information from the newsgroup servers that you pay money too) then alb.binz connects... Then you find yourself the NewsBin.

on alt binz you click the NZB button and open the nzb file you downloaded...

it will start downloading after that.

------------

I am using
http://www.usenetserver.com

I found a special off thewebiste I linked above. 10$ for unlimted 20 connections, SSL.

I really like it so far, they are quick to respond to any problems on the "online chat" and have fixed any billing issues ASAP (even though I haven't had any, but when my account expired I wanted to resub it and it was quick and no problem.)

Ahh ok, I didn't see he said MB/s and then contradicted himself by saying megabits, you were making fun of him for saying megabits in his post when he really meant megabytes.

Sorry missed the sarcasm sigh.

So I went online, looked at a bunch of tutorials on you tube and made a bunch of changes. It made an insagnificant difference.
My cuz suggested I "port forward". I just did that, it helped, it really did, but once again, it is not steady. It will hit a higher download rate-20-25kb/s for some of the downloads, but then it would go really low and start going up again.

I know some of you guys are hitting over 100kb/s steady!

I have the 2nd highest internet package from Rogers for about 60$ a month.

What's the **** is wrong??? ahha

If you have a good firewall thats a start .. using pg2 helps a lot.

I found that if you set your upload like to max 2kb per download or 3kb max then you will find your download will go sky high. I found that if my upload was unlimited then my whole internet would slow down in the house.

I get on average 258-320KB download

ohh and for those of you that find your wireless is turning off when your doing torrents its because your suffocating your wireless .. set your download to 10% lower of your max wireless amount (be it G or N)

I think you should get a new firmware for your router and if that won't help, get a new router. I can easily max out my internet without getting disconnected.

I do have the latest firmware in my DIR-655 .. its not the router. I find these happens to many routers in mixed G/N environments. I am running N @ 300 so with speeds like I mentioned I am very happy and another 10-20kb won't make much difference to me.

Its not complicated. Its the same thing as torrents more or less. I pretty much summarized the entire thing for you, with all the links you need. If you can do torrents, you can easily do newsgroups.

blades I have the same router, did you do the Hulu firewall block to it mentioned in the other thread? I can do it through windows firewall easy, but on the router its more complicated.
