Why are my torrents so slow??

So I picked up an Ex. HD and I've been trying to download some shows...well, never noticed it before with music albums, but my downloading speeds are very slow.
I used to see maybe 5.0kb/s to 15 kb/s for a few seconds before it would tank down to 0.1-0.9kb/s.

So I went online, looked at a bunch of tutorials on you tube and made a bunch of changes. It made an insagnificant difference.
My cuz suggested I "port forward". I just did that, it helped, it really did, but once again, it is not steady. It will hit a higher download rate-20-25kb/s for some of the downloads, but then it would go really low and start going up again.

I know some of you guys are hitting over 100kb/s steady!

I have the 2nd highest internet package from Rogers for about 60$ a month.

What's the **** is wrong??? ahha

Is there enough seeds and leechers? Sometimes when people don't leave their computer running you get a low amount of people seeding and trying to download as well which makes it hard to grab bits of info for the torrent download. What program are you using as well to download the torrents? I found that Bit Comet has run into a wall lately with it being slow for torrents.

We have about 50 threads about torrent downloading.

Rogers throtles bittorents. There is nothing you can do about this except use a VPN, or use NewsGroups. There IS NO software, no PORT forward trick, NOTHING around it.

Im on Rogers Extreme and it seems that I get 100 KB/s a sec steady, and it seems to pick up after midnight, maybe around 250 to 500 KB/s. Im just lucky I guess.
But I do most of my downloads on newsgroups now and get full speed all the time.

Switching is no gurantee that you wont get throttled in a month from now or tomorow or that your area isn't throttled.

Also, the ISPs seem to throttle different accounts and people.

For example Rogers was doing hard core throttling at some points in time, but I wasn't getting throttled at all. So its hit or miss and no gurantee

So what can I do to get away from "throttling". How does one get into a newsgroup? I am going to try to google that.

Currently I have not had an issue with Bell throttling me. But as far as I know, quite a few people do get throttled.

On popular torrents I'm always between 2.0-3.0 MB/s. Yes Megabits not Kilobits.

I don't know anything about Utorrent, I used to use Azerus. I enabled encryption in Azerus and away it went, full speed on rogers. Not sure if Utorrent has transport encryption or not though.

whats your email? I'll give you an invite to a private torrent site, speeds are much faster. Bad part about a private site is you have to seed or they ban you. Each torrent you download you need to seed back 1:1 the size of the file or 3 days.

I can max out my connection each time. 1.1MB/s

You have to pay for a 'usenet' provider to have access.
I don't know any good ones as I never bothered trying to figure it out, back when rogers had a free usenet server I tried it, but it was too damn complicated and i never bothered to figure it out.

This is an example of a usenet provider: http://www.giganews.com

I have no idea if it's a good one, I think koncise uses newsgroups, he'll know which ones are good.
