"Lifetime" for BMW is end of CPO warranty, if the car gets re-certified, which is 160,000kms. Something to consider. I wouldn't want to go 320k + on original fluid, no matter how magical and synthetic it is, but then again I'll never own an automatic with that many kms.

@BlackedOut95 - All I said was you can change the fluid. I don't know enough about BMWs to make a bold statement and say you SHOULD or SHOULDN'T change it.

Earlier posts were saying not to do it, but not giving a very valid reason not to.

One way it can damage you tranny is by not putting the proper type of fluid. Tranny fluids are not all equal.

Life time is how long? Who knows?
I figure if anyone wants to change it then at least have some idea of what the risks are.

As for the "smarter than a piece of wood" comments... You should mind who you diss... You may get your feelings hurt and embarassed.

Peace

So one way it can damage your tranny is stupidity, great excuse. Thats like telling someone to be careful changing their oil. The only risk I know of comes from NOT doing it on a working high mileage auto.

Existing problems are just that, existing.

Oh lord...
I have no comment... if you want to jump to conclusions thats fine with me.
Assume what you want. I am not here to get into a "competition" with anyone.

If you wanna be right, be right.

I got better things to do... like your girl!
