The problem is, you greatly risk damaging your paint. The other issue is that the dent is just popped out because of the sudden temperature change. Once the dent reaches normal temperature again, it will start to sink back into being a dent. Not as bad, but still a dent.

It will work some of the time; notice the when and where and how it was done. Too much heat could damage paint; you have to have some finesse when doing it. Like polishing a car. You can have all the products and machinery but if you don't have skill, what good is it? So there is some common sense, some understanding and well bottom line some plain luck. Steel, is one thing but aluminum is another. A shallow dent with minimal creasing should work. But if it does with more creasing you will probably still see evidence a dent was there as mentioned. what is there to lose at 8 bucks a can?? (grin) heck I'd try it..
