rear passenger side sits low...

hey guys, i was driving the car on the highway and noticed when i go over bumps the car reacts weird...

i parked the car and noticed that the passenger side rear wheel arch sits low...looks as if lowered...whereas the other three sides are normal height...

i pushed down on the corner...doesn't seem to be jumpy or soft...could this be the spring? I read online about the rear spring breaking or something...
I wouldn't know how "bouncy" a blown shock would be...would it be very very noticeable when pushing down on the corner?

would there be other symptoms? any weird noises?

I've read tutorials on swapping rear spring, looks pretty easy since the spring and shock are separate in the rears...

i know it's a noob question, I just got the car and am learning everyday

I've never had a blown shock, so just wondering if this sounds like a spring problem or shock problem...

sounds like a spring problem to me, jack up that side of the car and investigate, could be broken spring or even cracked, things do age and all the salt and grime can cause springs to crack. if ur looking for replacements and thats the problem PM me i have all 4 non sport 325i stock springs n ill let em go very cheap!

This might also be caused by a torn/worn out bushing.

hey I think you're right...

i brought my car to a bmw shop for an oil change and they gave me a list of things that need to be replaced, half of which was supposed to have been part of the safety inspection. they printed it out for me and I brought the list to the shop that did the safety(Seller of the car had it done), and I gave the list. They were very polite and took the car, next day called me stating he had ordered all the parts for every item on the menu.

this included bushings and a ball joint among other things.

happy to say, other than that and some other minor wear n tear items needing replacing, the bmw shop said everything else looks good

once i get the car back from the shop, i'm gonna bring it back to the bmw shop for inspection and i'm gonna see if they can figure out what was up with my rear passenger side...and if he doesn't know...i'll do the process of elimination, starting with replacing the rear springs.

are you on stock springs? the rears are notorious for snapping. i'd check that first as both my stock rear springs have snapped before i installed my coilovers. you'll notice on the bottom of the spring, the end of it may be really jagged and not smooth and flat.

check that first. it'd also be the cheapest to replace.

Yup. Broken spring. Verly close to the bottom. You will loose approx half an inch in height.

germanparts.ca sells a pair of rear springs for $180 plus tax. They are @ Kipling & Rexdale.
