17inch Winter tires??

Hey guys, i got 17x8 rims and i wanna find winter tires the car.... its currently stock height and its a e36 btw with the m3 brakes... so thats why i need 17's cuz anyhting lower wont clear the brakes i think...

So im looking for winter tires.. currently i run 225/45 on the rim
but finding low profile tires for winter are hard
So im thinking maybe 225/ 55or 50 would this clear it???

For snow they say narrower and taller is usually best. You could go with your 225/45/17 or possibly down to 205/50/17.

225/45/17 is a common size and easy to find. (Although they aren't cheap)

225/50/17 or 225/55/17 is way too big for an e36, your only other option is what the above poster mentioned 205/50/17.

Ok i found some tires from a guy i get e36 parts from in pickering.... he is giving me a great deal on some winter tires.. they arent a good brand name or anything, but its besically the same thread pattern as ipikes.... and its only 500 bucks cash for them balanced and installed!!! I kno alot of people are against buying tires from companies that arent mainstream, but i have had both brand name and no name winter tires on my pervious vehicles... and i havent noticed a difference except in the road noise but that isnt something im really concerned about.

I'll let you know how the grip is...

Michelin X-Ice is on sale at tirerack. Less than $500 shipped to U.S.
$720 including everything shipped here. Here's its $1200 at Canadian Tire.

I might make the drive this week and buy wheels there as well
