Last weekend was Carl's triple header: Time Attack Saturday, Circle track race Saturday evening, and AutoX on Sunday - all at Autodrome St-Eustache. I had some wedding stuff to do saturday evening/sunday, so I was only able to participate in the Time Attack.

They were forecasting rain all day, and when we got there, I threw my rain-grooved R88s on (FINALLY!). I've had these tires for 2 years and have been WAITING to try them out. They're alright... the track was drying out so I probably could have gotten away with slicks but I didn't want to "waste" my contis.

I ran the R888s in the two morning practice session (and narrowly avoided a civic spinning out in front of me in the first session!), then switched to my V710s for the timed sessions. I managed to pull off a 58.13 in my last session, and a 58.15 in the top 5 shootout, which netted me 2nd in class, and 2nd overall. Not quite as fast as my first event where I ran a 57.9 and then a 57.1 in the top 5 shootout, but given the weather and the extra use on the tires, I'm ok with it!

Here's my in-car video compilation:

And a quick video from a spectator - Thanks Dave!:

It's running stellar as always - AFRs were solid all day, a little rich probably, but solid

I've got to get more Midnight Tuning stickers to put on the car.... I ran out

I think next spring I'd like to put it on the dyno again and see if we can squeeze some more out of her... what do you think? LOL

Thanks guys!

Actually to be honest, Mike I feel like I haven't! The car isn't handling the way I want it too and with the crash this spring I've felt more hesitant. It's like I've been fighting it all year. In any case, there's always another season!

Hopefully i'll be able to make the car look (and stay) pretty for next year!

Thanks Oktay!

I'd love too but I'm going to be in Chicago for a wedding. I *may* be done with ASE for this year (the last time attack falls on ANOTHER wedding... ugh), unless I can scrounge up the funds for Mosport in October... we'll see!

Wow! That would suck indeed! Talk to Carl, I'm sure he can hook something up for you for Mosport! Had tons of fun with you before the engine blew!

Also I tried staying in 4th for the esses (I'm sure you saw it in the video).... it feels slower - not sure, but I'm definitely falling out of the peak toque band... I guess the laptimes prove it too!

Ah well, more experimentation to be done!

Break down the segment with the data and look at the time you spent in that segment. Data is key in this case. Downshifting and upshifting take time. Though you may compensate on acceleration, you may find that you lose lots of time shifting.

It's also possible that a 3.91 is just too short for St-Eustache... Looking at your videos and Jamie's, a 3.91 is definitely not something I would be looking for. Maybe 3.64 or 3.73, but never a 3.91. It's just too short.

Yeah for sure!

Carl's been a great support this year and it's not so much about the entry fee, but also the $200+ in gas to get down there, and I'm not sure if I'll have tires...

With the house being started in October, it's going to affect my disposable income big time. Like I said though, we'll see

Data is definitely key. unfortunately, I have none... yet

And yes, a 3:73 is definitely ideal, but those (and the 3.64) are mega $$$ because they're custom builds. The 3.91 came with the car, so I'm not complaining (too much).

I try to be pretty quick with my shifts but yeah, without data it's just a guessing game.
