Damn that's too bad!

Sometimes I wonder myself if this hobby is worth blowing so much money on. Unfortunately I love it too much.

Hope you get it back together soon though. We need to hit up a track day!

I know what you mean!!! It definitely is a blast, and I'll be back soon enough! Hoping to make the gentleman's race on June 22nd. In the meantime, I've got Jeff's car to work on, and the 8 legs cars. Racing is fun lol

Look at those rivets glistening in the sun LOL!

On the serious - I'm glad you're ok buddy!
Picton wasn't the same without you!

Between the three of our cars, we'll have our hands full for a while but we just need to remember that this is supposed to be fun and enjoy it

Thanks guys - it happened in Turn 2... not too sure exactly "what" caused the off, but I know I was off line, and then the rear-end just let go on me after the car felt/looked settled in the turn... It was weird. I almost saved it but ran out of track/talent.

Looks like I hit the tire wall on the outside doing about 60-80km/h... Those tires are definitely saviours! I was perfectly fine - not even sore - barely felt the impact. Right now I just can't wait to back to Mosport and make turn 2 my b!tch LOL.

Yeah man I was really looking forward to picton. I was 1second off FTD last year on my starspecs, was hoping the V710s this year would have helped me take it home. Oh well, next time

I think if you want to truly race, where placing as high as possible is all that matters, then the car HAS to be something you can afford to write off. When I realized that I enjoy track driving more than the idea of actual competition, I felt a lot better about spending much more money on the car because I can now understand that I won't seek its limits.

^exactly. While my car is something I can "afford" to write off, I don't want to just yet I know I push myself hard, and I know when I jump in the car, whether it's lapping or racing, I am constantly trying to seek the limit of myself, and my car. I know myself well enough that I could never do this with a daily driver. That may be why I prefer driving with a passenger - I don't push as hard.

That's true. Even given what I said, there are still moments when I do things I shouldn't - get caught up in it, get confident/comfortable with the car, red mist descends and...

Well it's about time to start working on the car again.

-Tonight I'm going to be helping Jeff out with his e30, and at the same time start dis-assembling the broken body parts.

-I've decided that I'm going to take as much as I can from the winter car (Jess' & mine), and then we'll figure out what we're doing with the rest of it (read: part out).

On the list:

-hood
-right fender
-nose panel
-kidney grills
-rad support
-bumper
-bumper cover
-hood pins (at least 1)
-flares
-windshield
-control arms
-tie rods

I already picked up a new M3 bumper, and the flares are on their way.

Through Arek/Bimmerworld, I'm getting all new control arms & bushings. I had the UUC centered bushings on the car (now for sale: http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=151505), thus needing to run M3 control arms to get the caster I wanted, and to have the heavier duty ball joints. Well those are like $250-300 a piece. Or, I could get 2 new aftermarked Meyle HD non-m3 arms (with the same HD ball joints as the M version), plus offset bushings to give me the same caster I have now for essentially the same price.

Um, yes. let's do that.

-Sunday:

paint & figure out dummy lights (been putting that off for a while now)

-Monday:

pickup suspension bits & start install

-Tuesday:

Assemble body parts, finish suspension install

-Wednesday:

8Legs

-Thursday:

Corner Balance @ 8Legs

-Friday AM:

Alignment at CTC

-Friday PM:

head to bogie

So uh yeah.... my schedule has pretty much gone out the window

This weekend was not nearly as productive as I was hoping. Basically, all I had time to do Sunday & Monday was strip Jess' car, and then go pick up my parts in Ogdensburg.

Oh, and we also took Jeff's car off the lift... with the rear suspension still missing - see here http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/show...00#post1571700)

So i've decided that the car is going to stay a rainbow for friday - it will have a red bumper, green hood, trunk & passenger side fender, and the black everything else. Tonight I'll change the control arms, bushings, and tie rod, and reassemble the unpainted body.

Tomorrow, the plan is to get the car corner balanced, and then Thursday it's going to Canadian Tire Carling to get a windshield & alignment, and then to have the tires mounted & balanced.
