hahaha you crook! that product exists in ontario - someone from the corvettes owner club endorses that... its better tho - its an lcd screen that blocks out your license plate as opposed to a moving screen.

So if I go into a store and cover my face with a device I bought off the internet, and walk off with whatever I want, am I cheap, or a crook?

pretty much a crook, and besides you might getaway with the licence plate thing once or twice, but I'm pretty sure they will catch on eventually, there's cops sitting on the 407 that gets informed by the 407 workers.

im assuming this is legal, but ive always seens people driving around with 'faded' license plates front and back... dont know if its a natural fade or if they scrub off the numbers but i see these one cars pretty much everyday so im guessing the coppers dont care about that.

you mean illegal, right? blocking the plate in anyway is illegal, even when people bend the plate a little is illegal, and if the cop has nothing better to do he can give people tickets for poor visualbility of the plate.

I looked into one of these before at 20hrz audio in etobicoke.....cost is approx $500 installed- the ones he was selling were electro-magnetic glass that "frosted up" at the flick of a switch....

If your a commuter who enters and exits on the 407 at the same time and place each day they will get you tho- and I'm sure that fine ain't cheap...

i heard about someone who wired up an HID light right infront of their rear license plate (actually, right on top of it).

that person never got any 407 bills (because the HID light burned out the camera image).

That person's lawyer also told them that they were NOT obstructing their plate, as the human eye could still easily see the characters. There is no legal requirement for your plate to be able to be photographed. The only thing you risk in running this kind of mod is a fine called imPROPR lighting - 110$.

That's a good argument - you're not covering it. It would only be effective in night as it probably would be ineffective during the day. HID plate lighting...hmmm...
