So these are different suspension then the IS versions. I don't remember seeing an option on realoem.

All the "IS" in the badge means is coupe. Yes it does stand for "Injection Sport" or whatever but it doesn't mean the car has Sport package.
Sports Package suspension is described by BMW as "M Sports Suspension"
Includes different shocks, springs and a bigger rear sway bar. Maybe some other things I don't recall at the moment.

Nope, wasn't Dependant on if it was an "Is" or "I". There is sport package suspension though, sits a touch lower, stiffer not sure. Maybe somebody else can chime in on that.

That must be 96+ I havent seen much of a difference between most e36`s that are bone stock other then wheels, paint, interior, and a spoiler on the iS. I could be wrong though. I just dont recall bmw offering different suspension setups post 96

You might be right. I don't have a ton of experience with anything 95 or older.

It's not just for the 96+ cars.
The difference is not that big between sport and regular suspension.
Sport suspension is 15mm lower in the front and 11mm lower in the back.

k so this option was avalinle on all E36's even the 4 cyl cars. I remember when I got my E36 it had stock springs, and people thought it was lowered, this may explain it, I almost want to open the front struts to see whats there!!!!

Yup, my sport package 325i seems to be lower than others.
