Go to the dealer with the VIN and tell them you want the original options list. They'll print it out and it'll explain everything
Sounds like the owner paid extra for the MTechnik, which includes all the M3 appearances.
Some 1999 328is came with this as well.

I think people get confused with M tech, and M package, but I think they mean the same thing when they talk about an E36 with M package. I know it is called M tech, but when I talk to people I say M package.
The Vaders I think are very comfortable. It's personal preference when it comes to comfort. The front Vaders from a coupe can be installed in a 4 dr, but not the rear seats.

1. Yes, it is possible that your car came with all the M look stuff on it. But it did not come like that from the factory, it could be an accessory installed by the dealer.
2. There was a rare 325is M-Tech in 1994 that was very similar to the European Clubsport package car with M goodies from the factory, but they were all coupes.
3. North American cars never had clear corners from the factory.
4. M badge on your trunk also did not come from the factory, but could've been installed by the dealer. Again as an accessory.

The first e36 i purchased was a 92 318is M sport package. full leather interior, dual climate control, heated seats/mirrors/windshield washer nozzles, double spoiler in the rear, no clear corners, sedan rear brakes, lower suspension, no block heater, no M mirrors or front end.
It was the first year of the e36 if im not mistakin so i dunno if that accounts for the missing front bumper, mrriors and plastic sideskirts?
Oh the car was bought off original lady owner.
hope this helps out.

Respectfully, I would urge you to take Doogee’s advice as gospel…. I have never known anyone who is so knowledgeable about the e36 BMW. Every time I have a question or a problem he is kind enough to help me out…..and I can tell you from experience, he knows it all…….. Even the BMW mechanics call Doogee for advice…… no exaggeration here!!!! I have witnessed it myself.
He is a valuable recourse and thank God he does not charge for his knowledge!!
Cheers,
Willy

It's true!
One easy way to tell that you have Sport Package is by the front seats. If bottom of your seat extends, it's a sport seat, which means you have Sport Package.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

wrong, someone could have changed the seats from another car, or you could get sport or comfort seats with any car
worst thing is all these packages are are "apperance" packages, nothing suspension, brake, driveline is different.

Lower and Stiffer. So different springs and shocks. Hence the "Sport" in "Sport Package"
