M3 rear end on a 330ci, what driveshaft???

Anyone knows what drive shaft fits an E46 330ci with an M3 rear subframe and LSD diff?? The 330ci is a 5spd. With 6spd i know the M3 drive shaft fits directly.

You need a custom built driveshaft which is a mix between the two.

If you contact StanceFactory, they'll let you know.

Thanks, will do.
Another thing, i think the driveshaft is gonna be weak after it's been modified, this car is going to be tracked, i was thinking of some other stronger way. As it looks, the drive shaft is made of some sort of mixed aluminum and is hollow inside.

I really don't think it would be weak.

But if you're that paranoid, looks like you have to find a company that builds custom driveshafts lol.

Can I ask why you're doing this? The non M e46 diffs are perfectly capable once properly built. You can get watever ratio you want, and it's a direct bolt on. We (and all the other BMWs) in Touring Car run the non M e46 diffs without any issues at all ... some of these cars are pushing 320 rwhp.

Get diffsonline to build you a diff and be done with it.

Usually for cost reasons. I swapped in the M3 rear into my car for far less than an aftermarket LSD...

i'm paranoid as f@ck, i'll take a picture of the driveshaft and post it and u'll see why i'm paranoid, the driveshaft is twisted to sh!t and broken in half at the strongest point, and this happended with an open diff.

Oh so I'm guessing your building a drag car?

I cant see a driveshaft doing that on a road course car.

How cheap were you guys able to get the E46 M3 rear end that it was a lower cost alternative to a $1500 drop-in LSD unit? I would have thought the M parts would have been more expensive considering you need the subframe, differential, brakes, etc!

Ok the swap is done.
If anyone wants an LSD in your 330ci, DO NOT F@CKING DO THIS SWAP. It is a b!tch and a half. It is not easy and sh!t does not always work as others say. The car is on the road, it does drift very easy and due to the 3.62 ratio it does pickup speed quick.
IF anyone wants to do this swap, here you go:
0) full M3 rear end, even the brakes.
1) Driveshaft from M3 doesn't not work.
2) Drive shaft combined from two pieces (50% 330ci/50% M3) does NOT work.
3) The 330ci driveshaft needs to be CUT and shortened by exactly 44mm.
4) The input flange on the new diff(M3) needs to be taken to a machine shop and bored out inside.(50$)
5) The 330ci flange does NOT bolt up to the M3 diff, there is less teeth and the diameter is smaller than the M3.
6) Need an M3 sway bar and brakets(fillip didn't give me that said it's the same, it's not the same)
7)330ci Differential support bracket(aluminum one) needs to be modified with a grinder, other wise the driveshaft will rub on it.
8) M3 diff rear cover (aluminum) with the cooling fins, does hang very low, so for all the O.G's out there, u can't run stance with it, gotta higher the car back up to M3 height.

I'm probably forgetting something, but you get the point. Get the qualife unit online and call it a day.
