ya looks like a write off. Make sure you don't write anything on the internet about the incident(specifics, etc). It's to protect yourself if this ever goes to court and stuff.
Having driven a e34 M5 back in germany, I can say it's full of spirit and truly a great car

Thanks for the replies. I have another issue at hand. The car was towed to a body shop without my authorization, and now I am trying to get it out of there. I never signed any forms or gave any verbal authorization for anyone to work on the car. The body shop is now charging us "storage fees", and they provided me with an invoice. My question is, am I entitled to take my car without signing any release form? Even if the charges will be covered by the insurance in the future, I believe I am allowed to tow the car away since I never signed any "IN" form.
I don't want to sign anything and regret it.

Don't do anything without talking to your insurance company first. Call them, tell them the car ended up at a body shop not of your choice (tow truck drivers do this all the time as they get kick back, but it is illegal for them to do that) and now you're getting charged for it.
Let your insurance deal with it, it's their job.

Yeah, I've been telling them that from the beginning. I hope they'll do the right thing.

The tow truck can not just pick up your car and tow is somewhere without somebody saying "OK" at some point! After that, yes, they can charge you storage etc...or will try anyways! It is your right to bring it anywhere you want, but if you dont tell them where to, or agree to "buddy's shop", then they will charge you/or insurance. But in most cases they will pay for it, even if its stupid hight, like a $2000 towing bill!!!

go to the shop and demand the car back, thats illegal, pm bimmerette, she went through this. Get the car to european autobody, it will be written off no problem once they quote some repair costs.
