from E30 to EP

So I had my new Civic delivered yesterday. The difference between 168 and 115 hp having to mash the pedal all the time - but that's about it.

It's pretty peppy though, even though the steering is very heavily assisted and the whole understeer thing takes some getting used to. Having the high-revving four is pretty cool though.

BUT!

The Civic only has four speakers
The Civic has no tool kit
The Civic's dash is angled AWAY from the driver. WHAT THE FVCK!
The Civic's trunk lid bounces
The Civic has no place to put your gas cap while refueling
The Civic's gas door has to be opened from the inside
The Civic has a mini-spare
The Civic's light controls are mounted on a stalk
The Civic has red turn signals. WTF again.
The Civic's doors are easy to swing into poles - etc
I cannot easily rest an elbow on the window sill and cruise with one hand.
The Civic's lighting is a curious whitish olive green

BUT!

The Civic isn't 16 years old.
The Civic only costs $20-ish new.

Anyways - I'm sure it will grow on me. One day I'll drive another E30, but for now I just need wheels.

If you want pics go to the Honda website and pick a Taffeta white Civic. It is BONE STOCK.

As for mods I'm looking for gunmetal / hyperblack whatever wheels and something to replace the weird gold coloured ebrake and shift knob. Yes it's an auto - mom's requirements.

hey that's one thing for sure the civic will never hurt your pocket on gas. as the rest of the but thing perhaps you want to forward that to honda canada they just might do something about it. it's legit complaint after all ....

More economical than Hyundia or Kia? No

Hyundai + Kia aren't in the same class as Honda's are.........
-Toyota is just as reliable as Honda.
-Actually Nissan is getting much better in the past few years, but still doesn't have the *name* & *reputation* that HONDA has.

They are both great car manufactures too !

Honda is cool car too ... until today i still own one reliable accord 1993 with 245k km and no rust on it still kick in 185km/hr on the hiway. never break down in any weather in fact the last snow storm we were on eglinton with the accord and we beat everybody on the snow even a jeep yj. i have to say it's a really good car, cheap on gas. and also all honda 4 cyl feels like most v6 car on the road.

EVERYTHING YOU SAID IS SO TRUE ! 1990 - 1993 Accords were one of the best models Honda ever made... so were 1988 - 1991 Civics/ CRX's.

Reliable? there are no parts to break, the cars are so plain and cheap.

Your not worthy of the M3 you drive.. I think you've been brain washed by Sissy, Sisley or whatever that place is you work.

hey rob perhaps you can help me on this ... actually perhaps i should start another thread for this. i got 4500 bucks u.s. dollar to spend on accessory for my new 2003 truck but then i was thinking for this summer i going to buy a 92-325 something to play with. i was looking at autotrader.ca there a couple that i can get my hand on but i can't trust the condition so i got my friend at the used car dealer to find me one but he insist for me to get a honda because it's less trouble but i really want a bimmer for fun. last summer i got a 92 accord sedan and use it for the whole summer to go almost every where with it and at the end of summer i sold it and get my whole money back. what do you think i hope you're not bias toward honda ...

sonic07,
It all depends what your budget is like....(cash flow)
do you have a full time steady job ?

If you want a nice Honda to beat around in, get a 1988-1995 Civic hatchback or a 1988 - 1991 CRXS SI.

If you go the BMW route, get an e30. They are cheap to buy , mod, and pretty reliable too !

How about this one:

1984 BMW 323i

117,000 kilometres
5-Speed, grey cloth interior, sunroof, second owner
Price: 7,900 Can$

full time job is no prob. cash flow is no prob. i just bought 2 new cars the last couple months and still keeping the 93 honda. too much things i want to do this summer also i want to get back into harley davidson too cuz my friends are bugging me so we can go ride again in the night untill 3-4am.
the pic that you post that is really nice. is that original paint ...?.
do you think 20 year old car is ok instead of those 92-325 asking about the same price ...?

Price wise: Hyundai/Kia is way cheaper!
Reliability: Toyota is waaaaaaaaaaaay more reliable than a Honduh. **Please read reviews that is NOT provided by Sisley**
Nissan (Used to be Datsun) : Miguel was comparing power, not reputations, so DON'T mix it up! and I do believe you should compare wheel HP @ 3K rpm instead 7k+ rpm, cuz normal shifting point is at 3K not 7K everyday!

My point: Honduhs.......... lack of torque in 3K-4K range (Yes! even I-Vtec doesn't help), what so called "Technology" was first designed and USED in european cars, WORST: super weak chassis construction! Rob, you've got acess to a hoist, try comparing by jacking 1 corner of a Honduh to jacking 1 corner of a stock equivalent model BMW, and you'll notice the difference right away!

BTW......HONDA'S OVERRATED!!!!!!!!
