Terry, I need to refinish my Alpina's and most probably will be going to Carcone's.

If you want, see if he can give a better price per wheel if there are more wheels.

I will be doing the entire set. Let me know

Ok so I went to Carcones and Rim techniques.

Carcones cannot match the hypersilver on the M5 wheels, their version is simply too bright (like 5 shades off, they had a wheel to show and compaer), however they have a silver paint they can use if they just re do them normally (for 125/wheel) that matches 90%.

Rim tecniques is much cheaper, they are only willing to do them in hypersilver, say 90% match for 150/wheel.

I am stuck, should i have them do the hypersilver at rim techniques(they didn't have a sample to show me) or should I do the normal paint process at Carcones?

That's a really tough color to match. Nigel has done a few sets of wheels for me in the past, including a set of BBS RC, but he couldn't guarantee a perfect match, even to the original BBS Silver (which is close to hyper silver). It depends if it wouldn't bother you much that they're not 100% match. You're looking at $300 for the two, have you thought about powdercoating all 4? The place Randy used seemed to be reasonable.

Terry, any update on the wheels? I was thinking of painting my Alpina's in the same Shadow Chrome that your OEM Style 65's and wanted to see the outcome of your wheels.

I went to Carcones today to drop off my wheels, but was told that I have to get them stripped by an electroplater first, as they do not strip chrome wheels in house. Anyone have any suggestions for the same?

Nothing so far. I was quite discouraged after thinking about because if no one can guarantee me a proper match, I might as well leave it alone until the other two need refinishing and do them all at the same time. The other 2 options I've been considering are :
Ppl recommended I touch it up myself (as the scratched area is only along the edge
Do all the wheels in black...

Yeah, for the OEM finish, I would also do all 4 wheels together so they match.

I've been contemplating different wheels colours for the Alpinas, and I really like the OEM finish of the Style 65's

I picked up a can of hypersilver from the Wurth distributor in Mississauga. It's suppose to match the colour used on Porsches and BMWs. Another thing that I wonder was if the wheel gets refinished should it be rebalanced since there is additional material on the wheel?

Can you please proved some more info on this?

Wheels would have to get the tire re-mounted/re-balanced regardless.

I picked up a can last year for $26, but never got around to trying it out. I saw some pics on BFC of someone who used the Wurth spray paint just on the lips of some Porsche rims and it looked like a pretty close match to the original finish.

If you pursue professionally refinishing them, how about just doing one side? If you're meticulous about your car, then you'd probably lose sleep having rims that don't match. But, honestly, the only time you would really notice it would be when they're off during the winter.

BTW, I tried Precision Rim a few months ago on a pair of DS1 rims. They eliminated the out of roundness, but did not fix my bent lip. Zero vibration now. I'd give Precision a passing grade (although, I didn't make use of their refinishing services). Just don't go in the spring because they're crazy busy then.

Anyone recommend a chrome electroplater? Not to chrome my wheels, but to strip the chrome off

Best is to call and visit them, have had few things done by different places around Scarborough, the work is all about the same and they all charge around the same rate.

Yellowpage it, most are in Scarborough & North York area.
