Unlcoking Bell blackberry to use on Rogers
A friend is giving me his Blackberry Curve 8520(the one with the touch pad), it is currently locked with Bell. Can it be unlocked to accept a Rogers Sim card? If so, how (is it DIY) or where can I get it done.
Thanks for the info.

Hmm, seems to be what I am reading, Only issue is that when I puill the battery out, i don't see where the rogers sim card would go (don't think bell uses one?) In my BB Bold, I see my sim as soon as I pull the battery

if there is no sim slot, then you can't convert it, can only be used on bell

Umm I don't know BBs that well, but I don't believe any curves have a touch screen. That little track pad is touch sensitive if that's what you mean. Your BB Bold is still a better phone.
If you don't see a sim slot, it could be a CDMA only phone that only works on bell/telus.
Edit: It looks like the 8520 is GSM, the 8530 was the CDMA model, are you sure of the model? Compared to a older BB Bold, it has a smaller screen, no 3G, no GPS.

You don't have the slot for a SIM card, that's a "rough in" where the SIM card holder would go. Telus does have a GSM phones as they are introducing GSM technology to their network. If you have a telus phone and no GSM then you have an older phone that is not GSM compatable.

There is no rough in there, the silver thing is the back of the touchpad\trackpad.

It's a 8530 aka CDMA version, as seen on the label you posted.
