I've seen some turbo kits for sale on ebay for about 1500 bucks, don't know how good they are but one of them claimed 160 hp gain on a 318, which would bring it up to about 300 total. That would be a bit of a sleeper if you ask me

Take VW's 1.8T Jetta. Those things are pretty quick for what they are. I don't know how much boost they run stock, but it's decent, and you can play around with the boost if you know what you doing. I think if you just want to boost your car for fun, and don't run an insane amount of boost, it would be good for booting around in.

The turbo does make a difference though, I mean, a Jetta 1.8T is quicker than a VR6 Jetta.

Choice is yours. the worth it part depends on what your loonking to get out of it.

not really worth it...
only because if you actually decide to turbo charge your car.. it'll only be about an extra $400 to swap in a 2.5L motor

I dont know why people are saying it is not worth it, if you can get more power than a north american e36 m3 with a lighter 1.9 L engine I say go for it

I had a 318 E36 before and it handles great because the engine is light, that would also be a plus
