You really should include in the listing that this is a US vehicle.

Even though it is a US car, it looks to be in good shape...

Actually, his 2005 M3 is a German Vehicle, built and assembled.

I think the Z4/ X5 / X6 is a US vehicle.

I think by disclosing it's a US car is what the purchase may figure out as 98M3NACE mentioned as well as judge the vaule etc.

I agree, there is nothing wrong w/ an imported vehicle.
However, this is how the market sees it (regardless of what any of us thinks):

Quote:
Wheels.ca: "When it comes time to sell your imported U.S. car, its resale value will be lower than a comparable Canadian model."
I cant find a reasonable answer as to why this is...

p.s. does your cousin import cars from US for resale, cause the other one is on sale too (also imported)?

he lives in manitoba so the car selection there is scarce, to say the least to what we are used to and being only 2 hours to the US boarder it makes sense for him to import cars to get what he wants.
he is selling his 2 toys for 1 (ferrari), hope that helps!

Yes, it is a US car. Sorry for not disclosing that, wasn't intentional and if anybody had asked it would have been disclosed. It is a southern car, picked it up out of Jacksonville, Florida. Car is in excellent shape. Whenever I buy a car I usually buy in the US simply for selection. In Manitoba there might be 1 or 2 e46 M3's available a year and the chances of them having the options packages I was after are slim to none. So stating that, I may as well look further south and find one that has been spared the elements while I'm after it.

Why should selling a US car hurt its value compared to a Canadian one? Its the same car. I can understand if it has to do with warranty issues on certain brands, such as Honda, but BMW transfers over, no questions asked. This car is out of warranty anyways so there shouldn't be any issues at all. Once cars get to be a few years old, I would pay more for a southern american one that hasn't seen the elements.

Empirem3 - I change cars often. Never usually have a car for more than 6 months to a year just cause I enjoy change. I used to import a few cars here and there for people who would ask me to, but never imported cars to have an inventory and sell or anything. As my cousin stated, I've found an amazing deal on a Ferrari F355 that I would really like to jump on so both of my cars are for sale.
