Water Sloshing Sound when Braking

Hey Guys,

My 2001 330i has a very strange problem . . . when I brake, I can hear water sloshing around, and it sounds like it's coming from under the car. I'm not talking about a trickle, but some SERIOUS sloshing of about half a gallon. It's absolutely bizarre!

My gas tank is full, and there is absolutely nothign being stored in the cabin or trunk of my car.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Well if nothing is in your car then it's your gas tank.

Liquids aren't stored in many parts of the car. I doubt you're hearing coolant or washer fluid.

Kind of weird to hear sloshing from the gas tank though. I've only heard that on american cars.

Gas tanks don't fill up all the way to allow for expansion and vapors, so just turn up your radio and you won't hear a thing.

I actually did a bit more digging online and figured it out -- a LOT of water is collecting in the door sills (not the doors, but the sills). I think the water from the sunroof purposely drains into the sills, and then is then supposed to exit from some drains in the sills. In my case, it isn't draining. By putting pressure on the rubber tow points, I was able to drain most of the water out. There was at least half a gallon on EACH side :S It's no wonder my car sounded like a hot water bottle :p

Isn't it strange that both sides would be plugged at the same time?

So now, does anyone know where the drains are located so that I can clear the clogs?

a half gallon?? wow that is a lot of water!! I've never heard of this either..that is weird...
