the E36 replacement
I had an accident early 2010 with my moms e36. The car was given a salvaged title and was decided not to be fixed. parts for sale!!
A few months back we picked up a replacement for the e36. its a 97' 540i/6 sport. I think it has most of the options excluding the winter package.( no heated seats or steering wheel)
the car is a high miler, picked up with around 270,000km. All maintenace had been done at a local shop, and recentally had rad, water pump, hoses, belts, AC lines, etc replaced.
The car runs great and I love the low end torque that my M5 lacks. Its not in Mint shape, but still looks and drives awesome, and for $2500, we couldnt pass it up.
Since we bought it, we've replaced both rear wheel bearings, did the rear main along with a few other seals, as well as installed new cats and an air filter.
To take the car away from stock form, I picked up some new Depo smoked corners all around, a e39 lip spoiler and some tint. I think Santa is going to bring some black roundels too. I almost bit the bullet and went to go check out a set of M parallel reps for $600 on kijiji, but I think I may try and toss my Rondell 58's on next year for a change of pace.
Maybe someone else with 540i/6 can chime in but with my mother driving mixed city/highway. the car is getting upwards of 800km a tank! Which I thought was quite impressive,
