M3 got stolen...
Today my car got stolen. M3 2003, titanium silver... Had it for 4 years. What a great car...
Recently relocated from Toronto to Vancouver. Had an amazing road trip in that car. Mountain roads especially, from Calgary, through Rocky mountains, and then to Vancouver...
Last night left it in the garage, today in the morning went to the garage in my condo, and the car was missing. The only piece of my car that was left behind were pieces of the driver side door lock...
Very sad day in my life...

i have no idea how they deactivated immobilizer. i was under impression that it was pretty hard to steal the car. they did not break in through the window. the door lock was broken, i found few pieces of it on the floor.

also, why would they steal a 7 year old car... when there are plenty of newer cars... yes, it was a pretty car... but why not stealing 2010 m3 or something...

Yes that would be to disable the alarm most likely.. but that still doesn't explain how they got around to starting the car.
I mean nothing is impossible, but cars with factory immo are very difficult to take (start/drive away) without the chipped key.
Any video cameras?

yes, there are video cameras in my condo. cops took the recordings from the building manager. will see what they will say. i am puzzled how they got to start the car. but i also noticed, it was hard not to, two really hard tire marks on the ground right near where my car was parked. they were not there yesterday.

I'm sorry to hear your loss, I know how it feels, I've had two cars stolen from me over the years, and it's not fun. You somehow feel violated, and as if you lost someone you loved.
On another note, your car E46 m3 is ripe for the picking. Think about supply and demand parts. You could take most of the go fast goodies on your car and put them on an e36 and voila. A huge market is sitting there waiting for your parts. Why do you think Integras are such a popular car for thieves, the civic crowd which we all know is huge, waiting for their gsr or type r engines to drop in a civic and then turbo it.

yes... i feel violated. and the worst thing is that i cannot do anything about it. and somebody just took something i loved. i spent so much time and money so it looked the best it could. i really took care of the car. took care of the car so that some asshole could enjoy driving it... or parting it out!

the only visible mod that was done - umnitza led angel eyes. rest - full replacement of suspension, struts, tie rods, etc. last week changed to brand new winter tires. ipod, dice unit, gps, aftermarket sound system... refinished rims... the car looked like new.
if they dont find it... i am not sure now what to do. somehow now i feel that if i buy another m3, it will be stolen too. weird feeling...

Sorry to hear that man. That really sucks. Could it have been towed by the thieves?
