what is oil inspection

I drive a 1999 323i (e46) - just changed my oil/filter (Castrol Syntec 5W30, FRAM).

I also bought and used an oil/inspection light reset tool.

Prior to using the reset tool, my dashboard read "inspection -8700km" (when in ACC, first turn of the key).

Now that I've used the tool it reads "oil inspection 25000 km"

What does this mean? it can't possibly be the next oil change - which is what I thought it might read... something like 5000K.

What is this 25000km oil inspection?

yes that's what exactly BMW means. They want you to change your oil every 24/25k. But we all know better than that.

lol, I just don't know how else to say it - but a 25k interval between engine oil changes ? Thats impossible.
