Best size for winter tires

Hi,

I am looking at purchasing a set of winter tires for my new 335xi, but I have found 2 recommendations around the proper tire size. Some sites are recommending 225/45/17 and others 205/50/17.

What size are you guys running? And what tires do you recommend for the 335xi? I live in Calgary, where we don't get that much snow, but a fair amount of ice/hardpack snow.

Thanks a lot in advance,
Bertrand.

205/50 will be better on snow/ice.

I am surprised you can actually find tires in that size anymore. A friend of mine has a truck with 14" rims and it is an absolute pain to find tires for it nowadays.

Yeah I think they are light truck tires. I have them on the back and 195 65 14 on the front. The 70's won't fit under the fenders without hitting the wheel well on bumps as my car is lowered. So I have the tall ones on the back.

Never had any issues last winter, pretty much plowed through anything on the ground, even all the way up to Amos Quebec.
