Car looks much nicer in that colour than before - I always thought it was 6spd though! Those plate frames have gotta go

LOL! I'm back, you haters.
It's tough to tell cuz of the lighting variables, but that's probably one of Grigio Proteus or Grigio Avalon I'm gonna go with Grigio Proteus.

Update for you guys. The 6-speed swap is just about complete (just waiting on a special order brake pedal from BMW, should be in today), and it was a lot more complicated than you'd think. The physical fitting of the transmission, clutch, flywheel, pedal box and shifter hardware is by far the easiest portion; the software programming to make the various modules of the car understand what you have done to it is downright daunting! Mike of course took it in stride, and the car is now running with the 6-speed as it would straight from the factory.
We are now well into the next big step with this car, which is timing chain replacement. We have heard of many M62 (540i, 740i) owners in the GTA looking for this service; we have all of the special tools, knowledge base and PC hardware to complete this job.
I'll leave you guys with the following shot of Chigga's torn-down M62B44. We gets busy!

Thats what I thought. For all who don't know what are some signs that this needs to be done and what should you look out for?

Noise, rough idle, power loss...it would be fairly obvious. The loud rattle would be the most unique symptom.

Someone should get you guys to do that swap on their E38 740i sport. That would be badass.
From what I've read, a lot of people considered that swap impossible/not worth it due to the electronics, so congrats!

Mike needs to do a S54 swap into an E30 m or non m. Everyone makes it out to be super complicated. I've done a lot of research on it. Doesn't seem too much more complicated then an OBD-II swap. Mind you I love wiring.
And this is a dumb question, whats the difference between a 540i and iA?
(Edit: I have a feeling it's automatic.. I feel dumb)
