6.5" speakers in kick panel

Hey,

Long story short... I got told 6.5" speakers will fit in the kick panel, so I got a set of Kenwood P709 components for the front. The only logical approach to making them fit is to install them on top of the kick panel and use the aftermarket grill, too bad cause I was looking for a stock look. but anyhow,...

The big dilemma seems to be having the space out the hood latch. The hood latch does not clear the aftermarket grill by like 1",.. Do they sell spacers? or you just make some with thick washers, I don't know...

Has anyone ever gone this far to install a set of speakers? should I return them and get some good 5.25" components that fit instead?

any help is appreciated... I have photos if that helps as well..

I put 6.5 speakers in the kicks, my reccomendation is to find speaker grille as thin as possible. If not, you will have problems opening the glovebox and space out the hoot latch.

I also needed to trim the kick panel.

uh, buy ones that fit, and make it a 10 minute job. MB Quart are nice speakers.

I just relocated my hood release upwards by an inch- 2 self tapping screws and call it a day. Got lucky with glovebox, didn't have problems there
