Q: What is this coil in the A pillar?

Just a quick question, we have our theorys but when removing the a pillars ( they have air bags ) we discovered a small white packet that was see through containg a copper coil. It was just stuck the the inside plastic, it was found on both sides. 2004 5er.

Any ideas or know what its for exactly?

Was it connected to anything?
I'd like to say that it's for corrosion protection, but since the coil is copper (according to you), steel or aluminum would be the anode in that couple which is the opposite of what you'd want.
