Lightbulb Need help and suggestion for my stereo

Hi,

I post this in audio/video forum but I guess not much traffic there. Here is my post:

http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135369

I have a 2006 X3. When I play CD on my CD player, it only works first couple of minutes when I start the vehicle. After several minutes (sometimes maybe longer), it will make a noise sounds like drum and overwhelm my music. At first, I thought I need to clean it so I bought cleaning disc but it didn't help. I tried several different type of cleaning discs but none solved my problem. It only happens when I play CDs. Radio is fine.

Anyone experienced similar issues before? Any solution?

I also went to Futureshop and purchased aftermarket CD player, but when they did the installation, the technician told me they couldn't find a harness worked my vehicle. He said the only solution is to install another amp or something. However, I am not sure that's the case.

The other option I have is to install iPod integration so I don't need to fix my CD player.

Any suggestions what I should do? Many many thanks!

First off, you need the proper harness for your vehicle. They should have never installed it without a proper one. My sister's 2000 Cav, the harness cost 150$ at Bestbuy because it works in conjunction with the door chime and other such things. I would suggest you go back to Futureshop, tell them what's wrong, get the proper harness, maybe a new deck (maybe the CD player in the deck is gone) and go from there. There's no reason why they can't get the proper harness unless they don't carry it. In which case, I would return the items and get your money back and go to a proper car audio installation place (like custonaudio in whitby) or some place close to you. They will have the proper harness's and equipment to get your audio working perfectly.

Hi Havoc. Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did get everything returned because they said they couldn't find the harness for my vehicle. That's why I am thinking of just get the iPod integration. The advantage for iPod integration is that I don't have to remove my current CD unit (I like the look of original CD player). However, I couldn't find a place where they can install iPod integration for me.

For the Ipod connection, get in contact with audio specialists that live in your area. I'm sure anyone could hook it up for a fair price. It's not hard to yourself either, just take out the head unit and connect the Ipod connector to it, and just make it run into your glove box so you can store the Ipod there. But I would get in contact with some place like 2001audio or something along those lines that mostly do audio installations and get it done properly.

It seems that BMW has an official ipod integration. Anyone knows information about it? How much is it? It is better compared to DICE ipod integration? Thanks.
