my turbo set up
heres some pics of my setup....i still have more to come...and i still have a few problums wit it.... my turbo was leaking oil out the exhaust housin and was smoking like a bitch,,so i had some tell me that the crankcase is getting presurized and to try to run the line out of the valve coveer to strait air instead of the catch can...so i did and it seem to have fixed the problum wit the smokin exhaust and oil
so now as i was runnin it ,,it was dripping out of the center peice of the turbo on the exhaust side ,,,just dripping...i ran my oil return to a can to see if it was returning proper and with the car running for 2-3 min i had half a litre of oil in the can,(BUT NOTICED THE OIL IS VERY DARK DIRTY LIKE AND ITS NEW OIL IN THERE) but that i think is proper oil return
im running an ebay restricter on it ,,its size is about 1/8 hole or a size smaller
and the oil pressure reading on startup is about 50-60psi and goes down as she warms up and when its warm is about 15-20
im trying to upload pics of the set up but there issues wit my server so bare wit me ill get them up
any ideas anybody

I had the same problem with crank case pressurization. My oil pan was pissing oil under boost, disconnected the hose and it stopped.
To me half a liter of oil after 2-3 minutes seems like not enough. A general rule of thumb is at idle when hot minimum pressure should be 5psi and 0.1gal/min and pressure under max load should be minimum 25psi 0.5 gal/min
0.1 gal/min = 380cc/min
if you only flowed ~500cc after 2-3 min then you're not getting enough oil flow to the turbo. Drill the hole in the restricter one drill size larger at a time until you achieve reasonable results.

that seems like a good idea to do that but wouldnt the oil comin out from the lower part off the center housing and not at the oil inlet line where the restricter is mean that it is getting enough oil
just so im clear how can the restricter cause oil to leak out of the housing,,,wouldnt it leak where the line screws to the restricter as the restricter will be the bottle neck
thanks

Where the feed line attaches to the turbo is a threaded fitting. These fittings can withstand high pressures without leaking. The oil that lubricates the bearings in the turbo is contained by dynamic seals within the turbo housing. Since it's impossible to have a perfect seal as there are moving parts the only thing that drives leaks is pressure. If the oil pressure is high enough it can cause oil to get by the seals in the turbo.

If it is leaking through the seals, consider running an oil restrictor.

New oil isn't dark, it's brown.
Do a compression test..
Run a catch can, but like you said it's filling up quickly.

it sounds to me like the bearings in the turbo may be worn out and causing that oil seepage. Has it ever been rebuilt?

upload them to photobucket, imageshack... one of those free picture hosting sites and then link the pics here. Make sure to use the forum code so that the pics show up here and we dont have to click a link to see the pics
