E30 dashes

Hey Guys,

I have 3 dashes sitting in my living room (I'm single, I can do that ) Anyhow, they have small cracks in them, I was wondering if they're repairable in any sort of way,.. I was thinking with some sort of crack filler, dyed or painted... maybe even leatheriques crack filler, I know it's meant for leather... I don't know...

Has anyone tried doing such a thing? or should I just toss these out... I hate seeing 80% good parts going to waste...

Let me know,

I'm not sure how to repair it to have a seemless finish, but you could use one to make a fibreglass mold, then make carbon fibre replica dashes

Let me know,
why not take the worse one and experiment with it. This way you'll know. Practice on that one ti'll you get good and then you can charge peeps to fix theirs if they don't want to remove it. :-) nothing like having a good vinyl guy. one way to stop the splitting is drill a tiny hole at the base and starting point of the crack. This will stop it from spreading.

hmmm... good tip... I'll remember that if I see anything forming on my keeper car... so far no cracks... not bad for an '87 Florida car... It's funny, at one of the local meets here in Windsor, one guy commented on how there was no cracks in the dash... and yeah... I've only seen 2 e30's total with no cracks... must be a common problem.

Thanks,

Let me know,
They are pretty much 100% no good parts once cracked! This is the only problem with them, and once it happens, thats it!

yeah, I don't even think I'd be able to sell "fixed" 80% dashes . I was just thinking cause my buddy's 800$ E30 has 3 very large cracks... and if I can manage to fix one... he would for sure use it as a replacement... instead of spending money on a good used one, with no cracks... just for fun, how much do those run? I would think ~$200... is that a good assumption?

Even at $100, they don't sell much...Most people want to pay 75 or less....
