So.....the m3 or the 135i...?
That's the first time I've ever typed "135i" in a post and it felt very strange to my hands
M3 for sure

I think the M3 is way faster. I have never driven the 135i but have driven the M3 and it was fast. next and next with a Z06. M3 is a mans car and 135i is a womens car.

If you had the M3 why write " it was fast?" ...if you own one I'd think you'd write it IS fast-no?

What defines a family car... Is it the extensive safety features, driver aids, necessity for cargo space? Well then I'm afraid to say it, but both could be a strong "family car" or "woman's car" candidate. Sadly, I think the letter "M" in automotive terms has evolved away from a it's nimble performance and pure driving experience roots to join the other silly descriptions (SS, GT, SVT, AMG) that are lumbering beasts. If I ever see BMW bring out a //M with 6 cylinders, N/A high revs around 300 hp, less then 3000 lbs... my jaw will drop and my feelings will surely change!

Hmmm... well if it's 300 lbs of luxury features then maybe there is some hope. Just really hard to rip/swap out parts that you paid a lot of money for, like 10-way adjustable power sport seats and power moon roofs. They should be able to get the weight and price down considerably or at least use composite materials.

Well it is around the same weight as an e36 m3. I'm sure with some weight loss it can be brought down a few hundred pounds, but the target market for most of the new BMWs aren't people that are concerned about weight as much as safety and features, therefore i doubt BMW will build a cheaper/lighter 1M coupe.
If they ever do it, it will most likely be a limited production CSL/GTS/LTW/watever and we all know that will cost more.

Iye, I don't see myself buying any of these new BMW's, I think they lost out to Mercedes and Audi by trying to make the same thing, even Cadillac has a competitive version of luxury/sport sedan. I'm waiting till we have a serious energy crisis and BMW starts making super lightweight hybrid cars. Then in a secret location I'm gonna slide one of these high output digital engines in there. It will be like mad max and f&f, but much cooler.

I would drive a cooper S all day long instead of a 323i. As to the comment on Jays car.... I've seen that car in person and it is absolutely beautiful and I hate E36's with a burning passion.

Did you seriously just bump an old, useless thread to complain that you wasted time reading an old, useless thread?
