I don't think you're going to find e21 "sport seats" I have never seen them from my days of working for bmw back in the 90's. You may need to retrofit e30 seats onto e21 tracks. However, I could be mistaken and they actually do exist!!!?

The E21 Recaros are awesome. I'm also planning to put a set in my 2002, but I'm probably going to order reconditioned ones from Aardvarc Racing ( http://www.2002parts.com/html/recaro_seats.html ). They straighten, re-upholster and add lumbar support.

Oh they do exist. And no e30 seats do not fit 2002s without extreme modification to the car and the seat rails. They sit way too high up when propped in.

Has anyone here actually purchased a pair from Aardvark Racing? They seem to do a good job reconditioning the seats but I suspect shipping from California will be very expensive.

They quoted me $225/set to ship here or $110/set to ship to Buffalo. Depending on finances, I might be ordering a set this summer. Perhaps we can combine shipping?

If I don't find a set before the summer I may consider combining an order with you. I wonder if anyone else would be interested? Perhaps we could do a "group buy"?

Do you know if the existing seat rails from the stock 2002 seats will fit the racaros?

Sounds good -- Send me a PM anytime if/when you're interested.

I haven't done a whole lot of reading on the topic but my understanding is that the E21 rails bolt right in. Some links:

jlwong,

I have a set of black vinyl Recaro seats that I just took out of my 76. I got Smitty's old original seats from him and had them re-stuffed. I'm looking for about $300 for the Recaro's and yes they will bolt right in. It took me about 1 hour to change both seats.

Thanks for the offer but I managed to get a pair of seats from a board member a few months ago.
