Top gear features E36 M3
I thought for sure someone would have started a thread about this by now. The second episode of this season features a challenge that asks the three hosts to get a budget track car that is also practical. An E36 is one of the cars featured.
Link to both episodes so far this season (torrents):

the problem with those old 190E 2.3-16 valves is the dog leg gearbox, lots of people keep on shifting it in reverse, even my co-workers here at Mercedes

I didn't check the show but I'm sure they are talking about the 321hp motor, not the one that came to NA. The 240hp motor has nothing in common.

I believe it's a S50 so it has 286hp

Hammond says what it is right after he pulls up - it's a 3.2.

it's 321 hp. The other cars didn't stand a chance.

Yeah not a fair competition really, had a litre more displacement (and was generally a much newer car) than the other two. I would still take the cossie M-B though

That Mercedes was a great little car. I grew up with an '87 16V in the same Smoke Silver as the show. Learned to drive stick on that car. Pretty slow, but what a fantastic exhaust note, great seats (bucket seats in the back with huge bolsters, 4 seater only, made me wonder how they got the German band in the back!), and wicked suspension.

Shit I've been so busy that I missed the first two episodes. In the back of my head I knew the new season was going to start some time around July, I just didn't keep track.
Thanks for the reminder
