he's not getting the ecsta 712's, he's getting the ecsta mx's, which are better then the 712's, hence them being more expensive.

according to 1010ires.com there isn't a huge difference in the performance but there is a big difference in the price though
the ecsta 712 cost $150 Cdn for 225/45/17
and the ecsta MX cost $220 Cdn for 225/45/17
btw i think i'm getting the 712's in my wheel and tire combo but not too sure

i have 8000 supersports on mine and they're making a humming sound ( not really a vibration ) as i drive and the pitch gets higher as the speed goes up. at 140 the damn tires are loud ( i think it's only 2 of them though). It's time for me to buy a new set anyways, but i'd like to know what the hell the noise is from. My cousin told me that it's a thing called feathering. i dunno though.

It is a humming, it doesn't shake the car at all. It's just annoying at cruising speed. To me it sounds like a dry wheel bearing, but it's not. But like I said, above 140 to like 200 it's quiet.

TOYO TS-1 for sure. They are really sticky, great in rain and very quiet on the highway.

Just put on my Bridgestone Potenza's S-03's. I'll never change to anything else. GET THEM!!!! You won't be sorry. They are good in the wet as well as the dry...snow on the other hand.

Get the Kumho's... they were rated as good as the "big dogs" in a recent independant test done... Heard so many good things about them.. don't be so worried about brand.

Ooops sorry 712's are what I was planning to use for fun - still that sounds a wee bit high for them the MX's, HOWEVER, these tires are a very good bang for the buck, but after 30K they are fairly noisy, resembles a rotating wheel bearing sound, almost like a drone - PZERO Yellows were plagued by this after about 15K.
Aside from that many of my autocross friends recommend these Kumhos due to their relative inexpensive nature for the size nothing out there beats the price, enjoy them.
