WTF do any of you guys have to protest about anyways? You live in possibly the best country in the world. Canada is nowhere near a police state so STFU about it! If you don't want anyone hassling you with all this law and order crap, move to Somalia. No cops will ever bother you there.

why don't you STFU about it.the government controls every aspect of our lives.we are taxed to death, controlled to death.we are not even allowed to have a say in how our "elected" leaders run this country anymore.they don't put our best interest first, they take care of big business withour money.and what do we get in return?health care cuts, school funding cuts, deplorable roads, ect.meanwhile, they send out billions and billions in aid around the world.maybe if they took care of canadians first, then everyone else,i wouldn't mind giving up half my income.so if your totally happy with the way they piss my $$$ away, stay out of this thread where people are not happy with the way things are going.

The cop cars are left there as bait. Seriously, who leaves a cruiser in the middle of a street with no cop in sight?
Bait.
To justify why Harper spent 1billion on security.

I think part of the reason why the protests escalated the way they did is because of that nonsense law that they passed.

If the police wanted peaceful protest, why would they issue a law that gives themt he right to search and ask for ID from anyone that they want? Isn't that kind of hinting at something? Working as a deterrent?

Do you think protesters give a crap about laws that pass ? They will still protest and try to destroy... Just like theres a death penalty for murder, people will still commit murder. That's no deterrent.

ps: fix your god damn sig pic. lol

It was a deterrent, and a way for them to take down peoples identities.

Notice how no one is protesting down by the barricades? lol. thats the funniest thing.

560 arrests at G20 so far

http://www.cbc.ca/politics/story/201...o-protest.html

This makes me sick to my stomach.. look at some of the arrests...

Quote:
Toronto police search a car on Beverley Street, south of Dundas Street West, before taking away two men, including the driver, in a police van. Officers emptied the vehicle of a gas can, a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, two containers of oil and some empty bottles and jars. (Timothy Neesam/CBC)
Um.. isopropyl alchohol is common in cars in Canada.. It is an gas-line antifreeze. A gas can? 2 containers of oil? empty bottles? These things are not supposed to be in your car?

Quote:
Constables search the backpacks of pedestrians near Queen's Park, the site of the Ontario legislature, on Sunday in Toronto. Rights groups denounced random searches by police throughout downtown as a violation of constitutional rights, while officers said they were acting in the name of "public safety." (Ryan Remiorz/Canadian Press)
Quote:
Police stop, interrogate and search Dave De Michele, a delivery van driver for a brewery, in Toronto on Sunday afternoon. Random searches of bags and vehicles, as well as demands to see identification, were common in the downtown area, even well away from the summit perimeter zone where such arbitrary checks have been temporarily authorized. (Chris Young/Canadian Press)
Quote:
Police detain two men Sunday midday at Queen Street and Spadina Avenue in downtown Toronto and rifle through their bag several blocks outside of the G20 perimeter. A temporary provincial regulation passed for the summit permits random searches of people inside and within five metres of the perimeter, but not outside it. Officers initially thought the men had three cans of Sterno, a fuel used in buffet tables, but realized it was in fact tuna. (Timothy Neesam/CBC)
OMG not TUNA

Quote:
Protest supporter Jen Stewart is arrested Sunday outside the temporary jail east of downtown Toronto where police are holding hundreds of people taken into custody during G20 demonstrations. "We're just here in support of the people who are over there in prison and just trying to raise awareness," Stewart told CBC News moments before officers showed up in an undercover car and took her away. (Jacques Boissinot/Canadian Press)
Quote:
Moe Luksenberg, organizer of a rally in solidarity with activists jailed during Toronto's G20 protests, talks to police ahead of Sunday morning's march. Luksenberg told the media he's heard reports that the jail for G20 arrestees lacks toilet paper or sufficient space for detainees to lie down. (Timothy Neesam/CBC)
So sad to see this happening in Canada

before the cops set their own cars on fire

little offtopic but on topic: banksters

I see it as showcasing Canada to the world:
a) We Have the money to burn
b) Money is no object when it comes to protecting the most powerful leaders in the world.
c) Toronto is the financial capital of Canada.

There is hardly anything accomplished in these summits. It's all about the host country..what is it like here, how we roll. Just like the Olympics. Leaders know to take it at face value.

And I agree that if you dont make trouble at these high profile events, you have nothing to worry about tight security.
