oil filter hit header

I put an oil filter/cooler assbly from a 325i to my M20 with a header
wich change the orientation of the filter

The filter is now tight fit under the header tube
so access is nearly inexistant
and worse the filter end nearly touch one of the tube
leaving no space to unscrew it
without unbolting the whole assembly.

Is it the price to pay to have an BMW oil cooler?

m20 engines have oil coolers straight from the factory...

something is not lined up properly if your oil filter is hitting the headers.

Yeah, I had space problems to take my filter off too when I put my headers on. I ended up rotating the filter housing about 240 degrees counter clockwise and stick it out towards the lower front of the car. Keep in mind this can only be done if you do not have an AC pump in the way.

Thk !

Will try the 240/ rotation
and fight with the hoses.

(240 degres ) you certainly have an eye for geometry.

Your car doesn't have A/C Rudy? That must suck on really warm days... mind you my A/C doesn't work (think it needs to be recharged).

I've got e-bay st.steel headers on my E30 Touring and use Bosch oil filters - no clearance issues at all, everything fits without hitting.

It is tight though, and I wait for things to cool off before I get the filter off when I change the oil.

A/C in my car works (and I'm not a soccer mom)!!

no one needs a/c, there only 3 or 4 days in the year when its sooo hot you really need it.

besides, a/c kills power...

and e30s need all the power they can get lol

#1 who needs a/c lol and #2 I also have headers and have not had a clearance issue with the filter. It's a little tighter to get at the filter but not close to touching. If the rotation doesn't work you could always use a filter relocation kit.
