rad bleeding issue..
So my inpatient cousin had her 99,000k e36 rad replaced last week along with waterpump and thermostat. the backyard mechanic who did the work didnt bleed the rad properly so it was overheating from all the air in the system.
this is at what point i went and had a look, since ive replaced and blead mine quite a few time, which i thought this would be a 15 min fix. first off, the car was cold when i got there, and when i loosed the rad cap it was under pressure...that ive never seen before. i ran the car for at least 45min, and i couldnt get the car to overheat, or get the system to build any pressure, i was able to remove the rad cap with no pressure build. i unscrewed the bleeder screw and no cooloant overflow, even though i had the thermostat crack and added at least another litre of coolant in.
anyone ever run into this? my only thought is that they put the wrong thermostat in, or put it in wrong? any comments or suggestions are all welcome, i told her not to drive it for know, since i know the rad still isnt blead properly.
