a few minutes late= $160 + $60 ticket
Spent a night in the big TO. I was parked on the Bathurst street. According to my clock was only late for a few minutes. The car was gone. . i called the Parking authority they redirected me to a towing company. The worth part is the valet was in the glove compartment. In the city with no money, no car!!!!!!!! Start of week is just fuc*ing great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by the way the TTC drivers are cool, drove me very close to the location of the towing company, stopped where was no bus stop.
Ticket is a disobeying highway sign. Already in the works with our cash grabbing monsters of TO.
Just wondering did anybody had the same ticket, and what happened to it???????
I have a huge crack on the windshield and the towing company marked that I have not damage on the vehicle prior to tow. Can I complain and get something out of them?
Thank you for reading!!!!!!!

I refuse to park in T.O. I just take the GO train into that city because getting your car towed absolutely sucks. I'd be screwed because I don't have a cell LOL.

What do you mean the valet was in the glove box? You mean the parking reciept you are suppose to place on your dash?
Harsh lesson, but i hoped you learned it. They can't read thru your dash into your glove box.
I don't see the problem with obeying parking rules and not getting your car towed.
I've worked downtown for the past 4 years and went to school the 4 years before that, and I used to drive in alot more than i do now.
Just don't be a dumbass and you won't get towed.

Where were you parked? If you abstract traffic during rush hour they have no choice but to tow.

I originally parked on Batherst past 2200 so I did not have to purchase a ticket. there for a valet was left in the car. So it was rush hour tow.
If you already towing a vehicle, why attach parking ticket to it? Isn't it a financial and time punishment enough?
I guess it is all about money anyway! Although thank for a beautiful court system. Now all I need is a good excuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha

you say in your first post you were "only a few minutes late" but by that admission you were late, they will start towing right on the posted time that cars are not to be parked, because the lanes must be clear for the rush hours. I used to live on Queen in the beaches, the surge of traffic at rush hour was insane, and the lanes were needed.
Next time spend the $20 and put you car in a lot, its safer there then in the street anyway!

I was parked infront of the ROM a month ago, and got to my car 7 minutes after 3, which was the rush hour cutoff time, and there was a parking authority officer writing me a ticket. I asked for him to discard it, but then he pointed across the street to a car getting towed and said that I should consider myself lucky that he told the tow truck to tow that car before mine and just absorb the $60 ticket I was given, and I did.

A) i dont know where you guys are parking that you're getting towed. Dont park on major roads between 4-6.
B) if someone is writing you a ticket, LEAVE.
the parking ticket is not valid until it is ISSUED. Issuing has a specific legal meaning which means:
-Placing it on your windscreen/doorhandle
-handing it to the DRIVER of the vehicle.
Parking enforcement cannot stop you from leaving (get in your way). If you leave before the ticket is issued, you got away scott free.
BTW, despite all the threats everyone (judges, cops, lawyers, gamite) have given me, I still get a court date for less than 1% of the 30&40$ tickets i fight in Toronto.

You would think this is true...i parked on Asquith Ave - 1 block north of Bloor and east of Yonge st. Far from a major rd more like a lane way and got towed! best part no tow away zone signs that I could see.

Says the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

“highway” includes a common and public highway, street, avenue, parkway, driveway, square, place, bridge, viaduct or trestle, any part of which is intended for or used by the general public for the passage of vehicles and includes the area between the lateral property lines thereof; (“voie publique”)

it is a Highway, when people think highway they incorrectly think 400-series roads. those are classified as freeways (or expressways depending where you're from)
