Thumbs down Help - Repair - Rear Bumber

I was just curious if anyone would have an idea on how much repairs on the following would be. There are scratched from being rear ended from the other car's Liscense plate and a little on what I belive is the rear bumber moulding...i do not know much about cars so please excuse my lack of proper descriptions here...just trying to see if there is anyone that can help.

I've attached two pics and put a box around where the damage was...

Thanks in advance,

Josh.

What is a 305i?

Anyways, the molding can be replaced easily but the actual marks on the bumper's paint finish will require a respray to look like new. Now, a full bumper respray from a reputable shop will cost anywhere between $300-$500 in my experience.

Hope this helps.

Ya i tried to correct the spelling but it wouldn't let me on the subject *L*

Can't a partial respray be done?

I was pretty sure the make of the car was a 350i...

Partial respray won't look as good, and will pretty much cost the same. Price is in the labour used to sand, prep and paint the job.

Dealerships do touch up all the time and you can't tell. new and even certified series cars coming off lease get this kind of treatment all the time. You don't need to get the whole bumper repainted for a few impressions left on paint. providing the guy knows what he's doing you might notice it a bit..maybe not. maybe 200.00 at most.

Ya to me there's no sense in that...I see it as just fixing the one area...the person we're gonna go to deals with BMW's and didn't give a quote yet till he see's in person, but said that its no biggie at all...I am thinking that 200 mark.

or as an alternative, go to a detailer. That's who the dealership sub-contracts to anyways. Possibly, some touch up paint, and a good polish will make it virtually invisible.

Touch up and polish even wet sanding and all that won't fix it. the plate screws have created an impression on the plastic which needs to be filled, sanded and then paint and blend and some clear. I've done touch up many times and although it may clean up nice it won't make it go away. (Grin)
