New muffler...

Well, something inside the muffler on my 318i vert broke and was rattling really obnoxiously, so today I went ahead and replaced it.

Bought the replacement off everlast (thanks dude!) - it's a passenger side muffler from a 2005+ Mustang GT. It actually fit in pretty nice with a bit of fabrication (4 hours, lol) on the hangers and pipes. It would have been much easier to fit a driver side muffler (I had to flip the passenger side one to get the inlet and outlet on the right sides), but the price was right!

I haven't driven it yet, but from idling and revving it in the driveway it's a fair bit louder than the stock-ish setup that was on there before... but it doesn't rattle

Anyway, here's a couple of pics with the new setup - I think it looks awesome on the 318 valence with the small round (single) cutout.

Thoughts?

Hmm... those pics definitely don't do it justice. The tip fits in that valence like it was meant to go there.

Hey on that note, no pun intended, I am on an ansa exhaust from 1986, does any one have a suggestion to replace with a like sounding system??? I refuse to sound like a fart tube, 325e's just don't do that.
Sorry if if I am stealing the thread, just tell me off like you all normally do and I will skulk away with my tail between my legs. lol

Update after driving it a bit... I LOVE how it sounds. It's fairly loud when you're on the throttle, but sounds more aggressive than "ricey". What I like best about it is that it's nice and quiet cruising on the highway - hardly even any louder than the stock-type muffler that was on there before.

Highly recommended for M42 cars that need a replacement muffler!

Edit: I should note again that it took a fair bit of fab work (welding) to make the hangers and pipes line up and work. Might be easier with a driver side muffler but I imagine it would still need some fabbing.

Driver's side was a lot easier, but I REALLY love the sound of it. Especially at cruise. It's obviously built to cancel out drone but allow some grumble at idle.

From what I've heard, for a while, Ford dealers were throwing these away. Doh!! Can't wait to hear it sometime Duct Taper!
