Unhappy Starting Issue

Hey guys, I had a 95 318is and swapped in a 97 m52b28 obd1 conversion. I got to drive it for a weekend before i had to leave to texas and when i came back it didn't start anymore. It was sitting at my friends house and then he had to move it and refered it to a shop.
Turns out they so far did what I did just using brand new parts which was changing the cam and crankshaft sensors. It started just like the weekend I had it but they are telling me it wn't start on the frist crank because the signal shows that the fuel pump is turning on and off creating a clicking noise which makes it struggle to start.
I wanted to send it to you guys but now its their and he's estimating 500 for the fix but tells me he ahs no clue when he's going to be done and currently doesn't know what to do and has had it for about a month now. Please bimmersport, help a brother out... Any Suggestions?
